Summer Tubing

Around Memorial Day weekend is when the summer tubing hill at YMCA of the Rockies – Snow Mountain Ranch opens. This family-friendly activity is an awesome spin on traditional winter tubing. The Snowflex® tubing slope, which opened in 2015, is truly unique as it is the first of its kind ever in Colorado! Now, you can experience the thrill of tubing in the Rocky Mountains spring, summer, and fall.

How does it work? Installed down a rolling hill, this 300-foot-long slope uses technology to simulate a snowy turf surface. It’s then misted with water before it’s ready for tubers of all ages. Equipped with a conveyer belt to give you a lift to the top and protective equipment, you’ll be able to lay back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Conveniently, concessions and bathrooms are located at the top of the hill. Note that children ages 3-6 must be accompanied by an adult during their ride.

Free of charge to Snow Mountain Ranch guests, the tubing hill can be enjoyed by all YMCA members (with proof of membership) for a fee. Guests that aren’t staying on the property can also purchase a full-day activity pass that gives access to numerous amenities on property. This is definitely recommended, as there are so many ways to enjoy the property. Hiking, biking, tennis, and mini golf are just some of your options.

Guests staying on-grounds can reserve their time slot for the tubing hill one week in advance, which is highly recommended. Day visitors can reserve their time slots the day of their visit at the Programs Building. Give them a call the morning of to check on available times.

Beginning in September, the summer tubing hill is available on weekends only and closes for the season on October 1. Opening and closing dates are weather dependent, so make sure you check with Snow Mountain Ranch for updates.
