Explore on Your Own

You can also get out there on your own personal ATV, motorcycle, or OHV. Make sure to check out the Stillwater Pass OHV Trail System, accessible from the Idleglen Trailhead near Grand Lake. This extensive network of motorized trails is paradise for offroading in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. Offering everything from easy trails to difficult challenges, this area boasts some of the most beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains. If you’re lucky, you may even stumble across some of the wildlife that comes into the area from nearby Rocky Mountain National Park. Please note that this area was burned by the East Troublesome Fire. Hazardous conditions may exist, so make sure to stay on designated trails.

If you don’t have your own machine, rent or even buy one when you’re in town. Power World Sports has ATVs, Side-by-Sides, and dirt bikes for sale, and On the Trail Rentals in Grand Lake has ATVs and UTV Side-by-Sides for rent. Each rental includes a helmet, tank of fuel, and trail map.
