2024 ART IN THE PARK ARTIST PROFILE

Kristiana Miller & Lindsey Bell

Kristiana Miller & Lindsey Bell"Windows to the Past" Artwork

The lake is known by the Ute tribe as "Spirit Lake" due to a tragic past and the mists that rise up in the early morning just before sunrise from the cold waters. It is believed that the spirits of lost loved ones reside in the lake. What we wanted to represent with this piece is the concept of the spirits from the past, co-existing with people from the present. We wanted to truly capture that while many different groups of people have lived around the lake, the lake itself transcends time and has been a home, a monument, and a source of shared history for so many across the generations. It is a window to the past and will continue to be a window into the future as well.
