Granby Historical Committee

The Granby Historical Committee is a community-based effort led by Destination Granby to help preserve, celebrate, and share the unique story of Granby. As the organization that houses Granby’s Accredited Main Street Program, Destination Granby is committed to honoring local history while creating meaningful projects that strengthen downtown, build community pride, and support economic vitality.

Granby is at an important moment in its growth, with an opportunity to preserve the stories that define its identity. Capturing these histories strengthens community connection, bridges generations, and ensures these stories are not lost. A thoughtful oral and public history initiative will help Granby preserve its past while creating meaningful experiences for our community.

Currently, the Committee is seeking active participation from the community. Our first step is to work on an Oral History project that will be archived and accessible to all.

During the process of conducting interviews, we will also be actively digitizing and archiving photographs or other historical memorabilia.

Beginning in July, the Committee plans to host workshops conducted by a longtime historian and cultural heritage specialist with a background in public history, heritage preservation, and community-based research.

If you are interested in joining the committee or contributing your family story to the Oral History Project, please fill out the form below or email granbyhistory@destinationgranby.com.
