Beauty, inspiration, bluebird days, crisp nights perfect for snuggling—when it’s just the two of you, there’s no better setting for reconnecting than the Colorado Rocky Mountains. With Granby as your basecamp, we’ve set the scene for a 3-day getaway with romance in mind.
Welcome to the high country! Get your bearings and check into your secluded glamping hideaway at The Grand Outlook. Their “autonomous tent” is a new tent/cabin hybrid, and this peaceful off-the-grid structure comes with all the luxury and creature comforts of a four-star hotel.
Once settled, time to explore. You know you’re a pretty good team, so make the most of it and rent a tandem bike at Granby Westside Cycles. Have some laughs as you find your balance, and pedal together to explore town or take a spin on the Fraser to Granby trail. Park your ride to explore downtown’s shops and finish up with a glass of wine on the patio and dinner at Brickhouse 40.
Explore Rocky Mountain National Park together. First, swing through town for hot coffee and breakfast at one of Granby’s cheerful breakfast spots, and grab some burritos or sandwiches to go to pack along for your day’s adventures. Head in to the West Entrance of the park and keep your eyes peeled for elk and moose.
Try the Colorado River Trail from La Poudre Pass and follow it to the ghost town of Lulu City, a doable 7-mile round trip hike. After a day’s adventure in the park you’ll work up an appetite, so head over to Grand Elk Grille where you can unwind over an orange-and-ginger margarita before sharing a steak dinner together.
Head to town for a steamy hot coffee and quick bite, and take your brew with you to the base of Granby Ranch. A chairlift ride up takes you to one of the most romantic overlooks in the county. From the top of the chairlift, enjoy panoramic views overlooking the Continental Divide and the Fraser Valley—it’s a favorite spot for weddings and proposals. Hike down Nature’s Way trail and grab lunch at the base of the resort.
To unwind for the afternoon, head to the nearby town of Hot Sulphur Springs to soak in the mineral hot springs the town is named after. Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa has 21 mineral pools of varying size and temperature—farther up the hillside you’ll find secluded pools just right for two. Be sure to make a reservation before you go. Tonight, grab takeout from one of the beloved local eateries in Granby and take it back to your tent to snuggle on the deck and catch the sunset, reveling in how good it is to escape and spend time with your one and only.
Granby is a haven for active travelers who want to make the most of their time in the mountains. On the trail and on the water, you’ll find opportunities for challenge, excitement, and some well-deserved time to unwind.
